Discover Wetumpka

Welcome to Wetumpka! Read our story on HGTV Hometown Takeover.

According to our City website, the name Wetumpka is derived from the Indian words “we-wau” (water) “tum-cau” (rumbling).  We-wau-tum-cau, anglicized to Wetumpka, was the Creek description of a prominent point in the Coosa where the rapids raced across the river rocks.

Looking for photos from around Wetumpka Alabama? I have a collection of images from Bibb Graves bridge that I have created over the years. I also have a few other pieces of art from the Pine Flat church which was used in the movie “Big Fish”, and more recently in a movie called “The Devil all the time.”

The Florida coast brings some shrimp boats from Apalachicola, and the Donna Kay a shrimp boat that was stranded off the tip of Cape San Blas. Browse the photos, and enjoy your stay in Wetumpka!

11-22-2020 – Wetumpka held a light display tonight and ran through different light settings of the new stadium. It was a great sunset also! The new stadium and lights look amazing. I recorded the light show with my drone and will post it here later.
